Description

This will be a 3 day plein air oil painting workshop conducted in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Burnsville, NC below Mt. Mitchell.  Each day I will do a demo outdoors along with group discussion about painting techniques, materials with an emphasis on simplifying complicated subject matter.  We will concentrate on the basic elements of painting and will include exercises to reinforce foundational skills needed to paint outdoors more effectively.  Some of these skills will include selecting a scene, composition, values, color, understanding your limitations, and using a smaller palette (less colors).  By the end of this workshop you will have learned many things that will improve your outdoor painting ability and understanding. 

This workshop is designed for painting in oils.  If you have never painted in oils, this will be a good workshop for you to start.  Other mediums are welcome though the workshop will be most helpful for artists working in oils
