My Spiritual Journey

I was born in 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana and am grateful to have been raised in a God fearing home by two loving parents who took me to church regularly, in which I became familiar with the Bible.

Sometime about the age of 14 there came a large disagreement in the church where we attended. My parents thought it would be prudent to find a different church.

The church they found was quite different from my previous church experience. One of the biggest differences was that the preacher’s sermons were mostly Bible centered.

As a teenager, I came under conviction that the Bible was true and I needed to be saved to go to heaven - in other words - to humble myself and admitting I was a sinner in need of a Savior and putting my faith in Jesus Christ.

There was a problem though. I had my own agenda to fulfill.... I needed to be in control.

I then attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. It was during this period that I began to experience many difficulties and trials in my life. Looking back now I realize I was having trouble being my own master.

While in college I began to read the Bible on my own initiative to look for answers to the stresses in my life. As I read the Bible it began to come alive to me, especially the words of Jesus Christ in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). It was as if God was speaking directly to me and it suddenly became very, very personal.

At this point at the age of 20, I began to experience a change in my life, what Jesus explained as being born again. (John chapter 3) I truly became a seeker of God and was interested to know more about Him and to understand the Bible better.

God has been so good to put people in my path to help me to grow as a Christian.

Today I read the Bible daily and God continues to teach me about Himself and helps me to have a greater understanding of the world around me along with giving me a great Joy in living and a great Hope beyond this life.
