2020 Newsletter

I hope everyone is well and keeping busy during these historic and unprecedented times. During May and June I was able to take a leave of absence from my airline job and used the opportunity to double down on my painting. Since then I have been meeting weekly in the mountains with the Quarantine Painters. We now have an exhibit on display at The Gallery at Flat Rock, which runs through August 2, 2020.

Roan Mountain Trip

During the first part of June I camped and painted up at Roan Mountain. For those who are not familiar, the Roan Highlands are a range of mountains approximately 20 miles in length that includes 7 grassy balds, Appalachian Trail and the world’s largest natural Rhododendron garden. The approximate location is North of Marion, NC at the NC/TN border. The Roan Highlands are dear to my heart and I love exploring them with all my senses. Over a two week period I enjoyed the mountains with many of my artist friends and painting 22 paintings in 8 days.
